Just before a child is baptized, during the event parents are formally and publicly asked if they will bring up their children in the knowledge and practice of the Catholic faith.

Although parents shoulder the greatest part of this responsibility, the Church has always stood ready to provide help and resources for them to fulfill this spiritual and moral obligation, by way of Catholic schools, Sunday School/CCD classes and home schooling programs networked through the parish.
